Phonak hearing aid prices in Switzerland: transparent and all-inclusive

At Silver Audition, a pair of Phonak hearing aids costs from CHF 2,900 to CHF 6,600 per pair, all inclusive: device, custom fitting, follow-up and adjustments. That is up to CHF 3,000 less than elsewhere in Switzerland on the Phonak range. Everything: hearing tests, custom fitting by a qualified hearing care professional, all adjustments, updates, cleaning and warranties. No extra charge is billed after the purchase. The pace of the follow-up is known in advance: 5 to 6 fine-tuning appointments in the first year, then one appointment every 1 to 2 years. Insurance against loss and irreparable damage is also included across the whole EON range (Audéo EON Sphere, Audéo EON R and EON CROS), on the Virto R Infinio and Virto-10 and on the Lumity 70 and 90: one covered claim over 3 years, with a deductible of CHF 550 per replaced device. The Terra and Terra+ as well as the Lumity 30 and 50 are covered by a 2-year warranty, without loss insurance. This is why comparing prices between two centres means nothing until you compare what the price covers: a centre that bills each adjustment separately ends up at a different total after one year, at an identical device price.

The AVS/AHV old-age insurance pays CHF 1,237.50 for two devices and CHF 630 for one, renewable every 5 years. The AI/IV disability insurance pays CHF 1,650 and CHF 840, renewable every 6 years, to insured persons who meet its eligibility conditions. In both cases, an assessment by an approved ENT physician is required for a first fitting; it is no longer required for a renewal under identical conditions, but it remains recommended. These amounts are flat-rate contributions: the AVS/AHV calculates them as 75% of the cost of a simple and adequate fitting, and they do not vary with the price of the device you choose. In the event of an accident, SUVA and military insurance cover up to CHF 3,200. Supplementary insurance can add up to CHF 1,000, depending on your policy.

Yes, from CHF 245 per month: up to 12 instalments before the age of 80 and up to 24 before the age of 70, in 3, 4, 6, 10, 12 or 24 payments. Financing goes through a specialised external company and processing fees are added, calculated on the invoice amount. This solution combines with the AVS/AHV or AI/IV flat-rate contribution: the contribution reduces the financed amount, the instalments spread the balance.

Yes. The trial lasts 3 weeks, it is free and with no obligation to buy, with devices tuned to your hearing rather than lent in a standard configuration. Microphone accessories can be tried for 10 days, also free of charge and with no commitment. About 8 patients out of 10 leave with hearing aids after an assessment: the other 2 leave without.

Because the online price does not include the professional. A device sold online arrives pre-set on the basis of your audiogram; a device fitted in the booth is measured on your ear, with your ear canal, your dome and the way you hear. If there is a problem, a device bought online goes back by post; ours is adjusted on site, in Morges or Vevey. The difference lies above all in what can be measured in the booth. A full hearing assessment identifies what is limiting your hearing before any fitting: earwax blocking the canal, a problem in the ear itself, a change in your hearing. We also run a speech audiogram with and without the hearing aids, which checks that you actually understand speech, not merely that sounds are louder. Remotely, a hearing aid can be adjusted; in the booth, it can be measured, compared and checked on your own ear.

There is no standard: every Swiss hearing centre invents its own ranking, usually from 0 to 5, which makes comparisons misleading. At Silver Audition, we use the performance categories of the manufacturer Phonak, without renaming them. To compare two quotes, only one question is reliable: what is the exact name of the model and of its performance level at the manufacturer? The Phonak Terra starts at CHF 1,450 per device and CHF 2,900 per pair, the Terra+ at CHF 1,900 and CHF 3,800. These are battery-powered behind-the-ear devices, fitted with a T telecoil. "Entry-level" does not mean less follow-up: the price includes the same tests, adjustments and warranties as the higher models. After deducting the AVS/AHV flat-rate contribution of CHF 1,237.50 for a binaural fitting, a pair of Terra devices comes to CHF 1,662.50.
